GRAND LAKE UNITED’S COSTS
Below is a breakdown of our overall costs for a standard season for the 2018-19 seasonal year.Hopefully this will help everyone compare GLU’s costs to other clubs and programs.Team coaches, in partnership with parents, have autonomy over additional costs, such as extra tournaments and leagues, attendance at camps, participation in ODP or other training programs, extra uniforms or warm-ups, or other events or expenses.
MVYSA package includes:
·MVYSA Fall and Spring Seasons (16 games)
·2 Fall Tournaments and 2 Spring Tournaments (12 games guaranteed)
·Summer Skillz Sessions (7 sessions)
·Winter Skillz Sessions (13 sessions)
·$175 per season / $350 for entire year
·SIBLING DISCOUNT:$50 off for any additional sibling
·GLU will be considered a HIGH-SCHOOL PREP club. Our philosophies are designed to prepare our players to compete for positions on their high school team when they enter as a freshman. If you are looking for GLU to prepare your player(s) for college, we may not be the correct fit. Either way, it is proven that most scholarship college athletes made it because of their own extra work.We believe that the players should be well-rounded and focus on academics first, as well as being encouraged and supported to pursue other extracurricular activities.
·GLU’s coaches, administrators and board members are volunteers and will never be paid.We believe that the return-on-investment versus the extra costs associated with paying coaches is not economically efficient. We also believe coaches should coach because they love the sport and love working with children.
·Regardless of which sideline we are on, GLU’s parents, players, coaches, and administrators will act with integrity and class, whether on or off the pitch. While the contests prove to be intense and competitive from time-to-time, and some level of emotion is expected, we must first set out to be examples of good conduct to our players.
·GLU believes in development first, wins second. It has been proven that putting development first leads to more long-term success, on and off the pitch. We will understand, however, that GLU exists in the “travel / club” environment; it is not recreation soccer.Although we want to encourage development first and development of all players, playing time will be “fair, not equal.”Playing time will be a combination of attendance, work rate, attitude, and individual performance. If you want or need equal playing time, it is suggested that you play rec soccer.
·GLU will do their best to integrate with ALL area high school varsity soccer coaches in an effort to expose players to those coaches and their philosophies at an early age. While GLU will afford our coaches a high level of autonomy as to how to run their teams, we will NOT favor certain high-school programs over others and will work with our coaches to make sure they are delivering a universal development program utilizing the Four Elements of Soccer training system.Further, our coaches, administrators, and parents will NOT be allowed to encourage or otherwise influence any player to switch schools or “open enroll” to another school.Any such activities by anyone associated with the club will not be tolerated and can lead to immediate expulsion from the club.
·GLU’s players, parents, coaches, and administrators will abide by the rules set down by the league their teams choose to play in as well as OSYSA and other state, regional, and national associations. This is most importantly true of our adherence to recruiting rules.Any GLU member violating recruiting rules may be expelled.Any GLU member aware of recruiting rules violations either within GLU or from another club will be expected to report it.
·Unless an emergency situation arises, GLU coaches will not be registered as head coach for more than one team.
·GLU will work diligently to constructively co-exist with other clubs for the betterment of all the players, regardless of team, club, coaches, school affiliation, etc.Assuming the relationship is reciprocal, this extends to scheduling friendlies, sharing and trading talent, running joint training and events, and any other arrangement that allows as many kids to play the beautiful sport in a nurturing, financially feasible, and developmental environment.
